9ドルLinuxコンピューター「CHIP」が手元に届きました。
Kickstarterで出資していた方はとっくの昔に入手されているので、今更かという反応だとは思うのですが、手元に届きました。
珍しくこの手の物で出資していなかったので、入手が遅れました。(リリースされてからでもいいかと思ったのですよ。思ったのですよ。)
おそらく説明が必要ないだろうが、9ドルのCHIPコンピューターと話題になったものの、Raspberry Pi Zeroがもっと安く登場したので、ヤラレタ感が大きかったヤツです。
しかし、入手している人達の評価が高かったCHIPは、個人的には期待していました。
Raspberry Pi Zeroは小型化を進めた事でUSBがmicroUSBだったりと扱いにくさが出てしまったが、CHIP側は通常サイズのUSB搭載でFlashも搭載しているから、microSDを追加で買う必要性もない。
しかもバッテリーが繋がる。
何気に扱いやすいのです。
搭載SoCは、Allwinner R8という事で発熱がどうなのか気になっている処ではあるが、クロックを下げるなりすればなんとか頑張れるだろう。
1GHz ARMプロセッサー、RAM 512MB、NANDストレージ 4GB、Wi-FiとBluetooth内蔵という事で、Raspberry Pi Zeroと性能的には同程度を期待する処だろうか。
Kernelの出来が気になる処ではあるが、Allwinner SoCはKernel mainlineへのマージも積極的に進んでいるので、さほど個人的には心配していない。
久々にどこまで進んでいるのか覗いてみたくなってきました。
まぁ、ソフト側を見るのは後にするとして。
とりあえず、恒例の箱をぱかっとなぁ。
ケーブルが一本付いてきました。古き良き3本アナログ。
他のARMボードとの大きな違いはHDMIが非搭載な点。(ライセンス代等も含めて値段を下げる意味合いもあると思われる。)
HDMIが非搭載でも困らない使い方をしている人も多いので、個人的には好印象。
基板裏面にはケースというかカバーが付いています。
これは意外と嬉しいです。
安価なARM板はアクリル板が付属する事が多いが、気軽に使うのに良さげな感じです。
Raspberry Pi Zeroだと別でケースを買うなりしないと置く場所にも気を使いますが、箱から出してそのまま使えるのがいい感じです。
黒レジストにピンクシルク印刷とかよく解りませんが。
これはこれで他の安ARM板と印象が異なる。
これがホント僕は嬉しいのですよ。
ピンアサインがシルク印刷されてるんですよ。
いや、無くても困らないんですが、こんな処に一工夫されてるのが。
これは、嬉しくないですか?
あと、USB刺したらシリアルとして認識した。
わざわざシリアル変換を刺す手間が無くて便利。
Raspberry Pi Zeroも出来る様になったんでしたっけ?
無線、BT搭載だから日本国内での使用はほんと不便だから、無線モジュール外したモデル出してくれればいいのに。。。
技適取ったら値段上がっちゃうし。。。
